Access to Cash - Banking Hub Update
You may remember earlier this year NCYC launched a campaign to gather the views of both individuals and businesses in our community as to whether access to cash was an issue in CH64 and the potential need for a banking hub.
Prior to NCYC’s campaign, an application for increased access to cash and banking services in Neston had already been submitted by Neston Town Council. Unfortunately, that application was unsuccessful.
Following advice received, we used the evidence gathered through our survey and public meeting to support Neston Town Council in appealing this decision, rather than submitting a new application.
We are pleased to share that the appeal led by Neston Town Council regarding access to cash services in our community has been partially upheld.
While this does not mean that a Banking Hub has been approved, it is an important step forward. The decision recognises that access to cash remains an issue for local residents, businesses and community organisations, reinforcing the concerns that many people have raised over recent years.
Discussions are continuing, and further evidence is being considered as part of the ongoing process. To ensure that the strongest possible case is presented on behalf of our community, we are relaunching our Banking Hub survey and encouraging as many people as possible to take part.
Your feedback is vital. Whether you rely on cash for day-to-day transactions, support a business that handles cash, or have experienced difficulties accessing banking services, your experiences will help demonstrate the real impact that reduced banking provision is having across our area.
We want to be clear that a Banking Hub is not guaranteed as a result of this appeal. However, the acknowledgement that access to cash is a genuine concern gives us an important opportunity to provide further evidence and strengthen the case for improved banking services locally.
We would therefore urge all residents, businesses and community groups to complete the survey and share it with others. The more information we can gather, the better placed we will be to demonstrate why accessible banking services are so important to our community.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this campaign so far. We will continue to keep residents updated as discussions progress.
