Loneliness affects lots of people. Older people in particular can become more and more isolated as families move away and their mobility and confidence deteriorates.
Neston Angels aims to improve the wellbeing of older people in CH64 through its various support services and activities. We provide a variety of affordable activities bringing people together who live alone through regular social events and one to one support from our team of local volunteers.
From a weekly social visit from a befriender, to shopping support, to social groups there is something for everyone and they can make a huge difference to someone who spends much of their time alone.
You can see our current offer by clicking below.

The service is non-profit and is funded through income generated by the activities and donations.

Would you like to know more?
Feeling lonely and isolated can lead to depression and anxiety. We don't want anyone in our community to be lonely and we have volunteers who are willing to help.

If you, or someone you know, would like to discuss befriending, please complete the short form on the right and Maggie will be in touch with more information.

Once you have submitted the form, we aim to be in touch within 5 working days and, though we normally do it quicker, it can take a little longer sometimes.
Could you be a befriender?
Befrienders commit to regular visits for an extended period, so they can really get to know clients and build a supportive and trusting relationship.
Typically, befrienders visit people in their own home on a weekly or fortnightly basis for 1 – 2 hours.

Meet Dy ...
Dy is one of our longest serving volunteers with Neston Angels, making calls every week to clients for a quick chat and a catch up. Dy is a former insurance salesman, so he’s a natural at establishing a rapport with people,

Dy says, "‘I’m still very independent and able to get out and about, but I know there are lots of older people in Neston who can’t.
I like to think I make a difference just by giving a few hours of my time each week to pick up the phone and have a chat with each of the Neston Angels clients"
